OPUS 5

THE OPUS 5

URWERK’s history is punctuated with decisive moments. One of these is the Opus project. In 2005, in partnership with Harry Winston, we unveiled one of our most spectacular and enterprising creation: the Opus 5. Among different technical prowess, the piece displays on its back a service indicator: a world first!

Swiss timepieces satellite watch Opus 5

POWER RESERVE

The 122-hour power reserve of this mechanical movement is indicated in a counter between 10 and 11 o’clock

RETROGRADE MINUTE

The ball-bearing system is a technical feat in itself. Before returning to zero, it is brought back by an extremely fine and highly resistant traction spring.

THE MOVEMENT

The Opus V movement is asymmetrical by nature. This represents a technical response to the challenge raised by the thickness of the satellite system.

DAY/NIGHT INDICATION

The Opus V indicates the time of day or night corresponding to the hour on display through a counter between 7 and 8 o’clock.

« Opus 5 is based on the satellite concept. Unveiled in 2005, it was a milestone in much the same way that the UR-103 had been. People saw for the first time, through Harry Winston, what we do here. It gave us a lot of new possibilities. »
